This page gives images of Bill's pots from the 12th soda kiln firing

 

 

Getting towards the end of the firing, notice the gaps between the bricks in the door, they have to be loose enough to allow the smaller ones to be pulled out when the soda is spayed in and the cones are viewed and the testing rings are removed.

 

Firing at night is more spectacular and the flames and heat can be seen. This is very useful when trying to judge the amount of reduction, the excess pressure and burning gas licks out of the top spyhole (which is a redundant hole for a thermocouple probe.)
